Contemplating is probably one of the hardest things to do in life, and yet ironically, it’s quite fundamental. This thought was conceived from watching a movie and reading the sequel….uh, you got that right. I saw The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants on DVD and read the Second Summer of the Sisterhood on paperback (and do intend to read the third installment, but sadly, available only on hardcover and costs more that what’s “just” for my allowance)…anyway… to go on…

I believe that everything God made has been preordained to be as it is. Happiness, sorrow, love, messing up, messing up big time, the so-called circle of life, and whole lot of mysteries in between. This small piece of literature that basically revolves around a pair of thrift-store pants is anything but thrift-store-cheap. Four characters that can easily be seen within each of us go through the joys and pains of beings girls, friends, “sisters”—out to take on the world at the pace that life leads them (whether by force or by choice). certainly, there’s no fictionalized hocus pocus on these “magical pants” that supposedly fit the four of them perfectly. the magic lies on how each life-story is carely woven into this poignant, yet entertaining read. i cannot say that it was a light and easy read as other books of this genre are. it drew me to contemplate on things that i’ve often neglected to have had an impact on my life…say, family, friends, mistakes, triumphs… stuff like that… ordinarily there, and yet somehow misplaced in the sidelines of life.

for the moment, i am yet to revisit what WAS missed, relish on what IS happening, and look forward on WILL be (oh, that includes getting a copy of the third book…hehehe)…

as what Lena would say, “lots of X’s and O’s”…..me
